Tom Alexander appointed as RedQuadrant chief operating officer, moving from the London Borough of Sutton

28 September 2018

RedQuadrant, the leading network consultancy for public service transformation, is proud to announce the appointment of Tom Alexander as chief operating officer. Tom will move from his current post as head of strategic business at the London Borough of Sutton, where he has responsibility for programme delivery, commissioning, and corporate improvement, at the end of the year.

His work in Sutton on Citizen Commissioning was recently included in the government’s Civil Society Strategy, and his longer-term work to rethink how we find answers to problems has been recognised by both the Institute for Government and the RSA in recent years.

Tom said ‘I am delighted to be joining a renowned organisation that has a demonstrably strong track record of stimulating and supporting public service improvement, innovation and transformation. I am equally committed to helping organisations and individuals change and reinvent themselves to ensure they are able to deliver excellent services to people that need them the most, and support everyone to achieve their purposes. I hope that my recent experiences of leading high impact change programmes and projects within local government can provide even more expertise to RedQuadrant and their customers and welcome the opportunity to work with colleagues who are experts in their chosen fields to expand my horizons’.

‘I hope, in a small way, I have helped others at least begin to question the commissioning status quo and am really excited to join a team of people that have similar ambitions and aspirations for public service innovation.’

Niall Bolger, chief executive of the London Borough of Sutton (and PSTA Ambassador, and soon to move to the London Borough of Hounslow), said:

‘We are very sorry to see Tom leave, but delighted that he will continue to help public services transform, reform and change in his new role in RedQuadrant. Tom has been the powerhouse in our programme of change in Sutton over the last eight years and his contribution has been invaluable. I wish him well in his new job and he will be missed.’

Benjamin Taylor, RedQuadrant managing partner, commented ‘Tom perfectly embodies the balance of real deep thinking about how to achieve public service transformation with pragmatism and delivery focus that achieves results for citizens and communities which characterises RedQuadrant. He’ll be a valuable addition to our talented leadership team as we continue our growth to support public services at this critical time’.
